Editorial Policy
Standards for listing analysis, mechanical verification, and factual corrections.
Source Evaluation Standards
Our articles evaluate hardware using primary marketplace disclosures, manufacturer-provided specification sheets, and international mechanical standards (such as metric tubing standards and gas thread designations). When evaluating marketplace entries, we adhere to the following editorial standards:
- Cross-Border Dimension Verification
- Sellers often describe hardware with non-standard labels. We reconcile stated outer and inner diameters against standard aquarium tubing sizes (9/12mm, 12/16mm, 16/22mm) and standard rimless glass thicknesses.
- Thread Designation Auditing
- Descriptions for CO2 gear are checked against standard regional gas cylinder threads (CGA320 for North America, W21.8 for Europe/parts of Asia, and G5/8) to explicitly highlight whether an adapter is required.
- Unbundled Accessory Audits
- Listing photos frequently display power supplies, mounting brackets, or check valves that are not included in the standard bundle. We document what is physically in the box based on explicit seller tier disclosures.
Corrections Policy
Marketplace sellers frequently modify product batches, bundled accessories, and thread specifications without changing the product URL. When a specification changes or a reader points out an inaccuracy, we follow standard correction protocols:
- Factual errors regarding dimensions, thread patterns, or package contents are corrected directly within the article.
- Material updates to hardware specs or significant seller redesigns include a revision timestamp at the bottom of the analysis.
- Readers noting conflicting seller data may submit updates through our standard correction reporting channels.
